Oh I do Love to be beside the Seaside..................

.......Oh I do love to be by the Sea.......

Hello crafters and a special hello to my new followers and for all the lovely comments from everyone who has stopped by my little crafting space, thank you.
Today I want to share a Summer Hanging I have made........I thought as summer seems to be absent I would try and create some of my own to hang in my little crafty room, and Crafty Individuals challenge for June is Sea Sun Beach and as I have just bought a new stamp Crafty Individuals CI-284  it would be rude not to play there don't you think lol.

This stamp set includes two beautiful images, bunting and words, I have used One whole image and parts of the others in this project.  The inspiration for my hanging was a background, one of many I have waiting to be made into "something" using Distress Inks onto water colour paper. From this I cut out a tag Tim Holtz die dry brushed gesso over the top and wiped away.  Background for the hanging is corrugated card dry brushed with cloudy blue and pink sherbet paint dabber Ranger and wiped off before dry, lastly a light coat of  white gesso, I distressed the edges of this and the tag and inked with vintage photo distress inks.
The lovely beach girls were stamped in Adirondack Ink-Espresso onto the bottom of the tag, stamping onto water colour paper you get a great distressed image.

The photos of the four girls faces is from the other image on the stamp sheet and I cut them out and added the photo strip....I love the effect it has created.....

I found another piece of background which had the same colours and a great effect looking like peeled paint I over stamped in espresso with a crackle stamp , stamped the words  inked the edges with vintage photo and added the clip and the  wish tag which I left hanging loose,  I brushed over these first with cloudy blue dabber and wiped off again. Also the lovely bunting  "Life's a Beach" is another stamp from CI284 which was stamped onto same background and cut out.

Sorry about the crooked "wish" sign in the photo - just noticed it!! It is hanging straight in rl honest!

The lace and rickrack came from my mothers sewing box along with some other fabulous bits and pieces and I couldn't resist using it on this project.

A lovely project to make and I enjoyed getting painty and inky.....hope Summer takes the hint......lol.

I would also like to play at the following challenges, it is rare that I make something and it fits several challenges at one time lol.

Fashionable Stamping Challenge -  Something New -  (Stamp Set )

U is for..........................

Ugly ..............

As I went through all my U words to see what I could find for this Alpha Challenge at The Craft Barn, the  words that stood out I seemed to have already used the stamp images for other words... Umbrella....I had used my Umbrella Man for "weather" so on sorting through my boxes of stamps I thought Underwater................now I know I have a mermaid and some fishes somewhere............well they seem to have swum off ......when I came across the stamp I have used.....

when I saw it I immediately knew that it fitted the "ill tempered" part of the definition....what do you think lol

She really really looks miffed at something, I have kept it simple so not to detract from that face!  Page was distressed with antique linen ink and washed with water, Stamp is a PaperArtsy set I have had since I began stamping many years ago and had forgotten about....shame on me...... I stamped in versamark and embossed in black, corner is one of Tim's stamps which is embossed in black.

I found this a hard challenge as most of the stamps I had already used fitted and it was hard not to take the easy option and use them again......I really LOVE Umbrella Man and it was sooooo hard not to do " Umbrella" lol

Hope you have enjoyed looking and I must pop over to The Craft Barn and take a look  at all the entries I'm very behind this time.

till next time

Bird Tag

Hi I really enjoyed making my altered block (my last posting) Here while I was away with bits and pieces I had taken with me, I am home now and as I was unpacking my limited crafty stash I took
with me I spied some more interesting bits in the bag  and hurried off to my crafty room and created this tag..........everything except the ticket and pearl eye are from the bits bag.....

The tag in the bag is what caught my eye and was already embossed so I lightly dusted this with pan pastels, flower TH tattered flowers the book print petals was only half a flower which I placed at the side of the tag and added a smaller flower cut from purple paper scraps of music paper were inked in Dusty Concorde, netting added and small flower  (from my Alpha dictionary challenge HERE) Bird had been cut in craft card and I also inked with dusty concord (bottom) and vintage photo around edges I also found an embossed wing in brown which really pleased me, ticket was stamped(creative expressions) in dusty concord and inked with vintage photo.  I am really pleased again with the finished project and had great fun, it really didn't take me very long to make................ it just shows you really shouldn't throw anything away..........put it in the bit box lol!!

I will be joining the following challenges with my tag

Out of a Hat Creations - challenge 63 tickets

PanPastels UK challenge Blog - challenge 23 anything goes

Country ViewCrafts - challenge #4  Die Cuts    ( 2nd entry)

Sunday Stamper week 261 Purple Haze

Thanks for looking 'till next time

Altered Block

I am still away and working with limited crafty bits, among the things I bought with me was a bag of bits and bobs from my "bits" box which included die cuts and bits of this and that.......we all have them ..yes!!

There is a challenge running at  Country View Crafts for June calling for us to use Die Cuts.....I have been meaning to play along here for a while just seemed always to run out of time so today I sat in the sunshine and played with all the bag of bits and bobs I had bought with me, along with a small wooden block which was packed thinking "I'll do something with this while I'm away" thought going through my head........ enough waffling here is what I came up with  post is a bit picture heavy and some are not so good light in Motorhome not so good for piccy taking!!  :-)

Front........I started by adding pretty papers from Crafty Individuals to the block and sanding the edges and inking with vintage photo, I added a little piece of torn music paper(tag is hiding it), tag is diecut sizzix I think inked edges and music paper and a little piece of  embossed co-ordinations which I sanded, and a piece of bird which had been cut from Tim Holtz cage and bird from a metal embossed sheet which looks like I have added alcohol inks too, lastly added pearl, this was tied to the cage with strips of netting .

Back....another cage was added to the back and another die cut bird which has been cut from paper and inked music paper and a piece of embossed metal again tied at the top with netting, I had two cages and 2 and a bit birds in my bits bag, along with the small flower which is part of the Tattered Flower Die TH.

Top ..........I had various pieces of the larger tattered flower cut from book pages and also grunge paper which had been overed in inks and paper and inks so I assembled these into a large flower, the centre piece was made by wetting and scrumpling several together and left to dry then I inked all the edges showing.

Sides................Last two photos thanks for staying with me...........I added two strips of embossed foil TH folder and sanded them, you can also see the papers and  inked edges.  I had lots of fun playing and creating this today and had no idea where it would lead when I started which is great fun for me... thanks for the challenge and I will be back another day  to check out all the other entries as my power is running low again

I would also like toplay at Tando Creative challenge - Numbers

Die cuts used TH tattered flower, bird and cage, small tag Sizzix

F is for Flower..........

Letter F in the Alpha challenge at The Craft Barn Challenge   I am away at the moment with limited supplies I had some flower stamps with me so my word had to be flowers . Background was made by stamping the leaves with versamark and dusted over with green Pan Pastels.  Flowers were stamped in versafine black and painted with cosmic shimmer paints, smaller ones were stamped in distress inks.  Stamps are Sheena Douglas Little bit sketchy range Flower Power, words are a Creative Expressions Stamp.

Short and sweet from me I'm afraid as I'm on battery power only and it is running very low, I was thrilled to be chosen for the wall of fame for my last page Kimono and wearing my badge with pride.
