G is for ..........................

Garden

Hi everyone and welcome to my new followers and thank you for joining me on my crafty journey.

It's time again for the Alpha Challenge at The Craft Barn and this time it is the letter G lots of choice with this letter so after reading through all the words only two really jumped out to me Garden and.............well you will have to wait for my other choice as it is still under construction.......
I used Distress Ink,  Distress Markers and stamps from Creative Expressions - Wild Flowers.

I coloured the background with distress ink mustard seed and shabby shutters, stamped around the edges with the little effect stamps within the set in vintage photo and wild honey stamping some second stamp

the stamps were coloured using distress markers which I find very relaxing a little huff and they stamp like a dream and I love the effect like a watercolour image

I added stickles glitter onto the flower heads and seed heads and onto the butterfly wings

when I stamped the butterflies I coloured the stamp in a light colour stamped and then without cleaning stamp I added another colour and so one I liked the effects.........no I wasn't being lazy lol
You may be able to just see the glitter on the edges of the wings looks great in real life!

All the stamps used have come from the one set except for the word "Garden" which is a very small alpha set.
Thanks for looking at my "Garden" page which reminds me of the wonderful summer days we enjoyed, which are already seeming a distant memory with darker nights and the rain we have been having.

Dusk to Dawn................

..............and a challenge

It has been a very dull rainy day today just the day for getting inky so taking my inspiration from this
photo

and with the challenge at Craft a Scene - Dusk to Dawn in mind , a few of my favourite stamps, a little imagination,  I got very inky and made a card.....

Distress inks were used to create the background onto super smooth white card firstly a light layer of wild honey then used a mask for the moon and reapplied wild honey until I was happy, also at this point I lightly sprayed with water and dried with heat gun.  Dusty concord was used for the bottom of the card getting darker towards the bottom, I stamped the hills (listed below) also in same colour, flowers and grasses stamped at the bottom in black archival, I wanted these to be in the shadow so using more dusty concord and black soot I darkened the edges.  Tree branches were stamped in Black Archival and my favourite little owl was embossed in black.  This was then mounted onto a piece of black card which I distressed the edges before adding to orange card and mounting onto card blank.

Thanks for looking

I love Trees

Another post from me again today as I have had a lovely crafty day  cosy in my little room of crafts and the rain has been beating against the window with  howling winds ....where did summer go!   Anyway I lost my bookmark which I made while I was away on my travels  so fed up with a scrap of paper to mark my pages I made another today and it fits the challenge over at Craft room challenge ~Trees and/or Leaves.

I used distress inks for the background wild honey and mustard seed sprayed with water and dried before stamping this gorgeous Fir Tree stamp set by Sheena Douglass in vintage photo and then I used pine needles for painting in the green leaves, sentiment stamped in black archival, the edges were given a layer of vintage photo and sprayed again with water, I mounted onto black card, finishing with a brown ribbon.  A simple make but so useful and much better than a scrap of paper!

Thanks for looking 'till next time

Wall Hanging

Over at PaperArtsy blog Alison Bomber has been sharing her gorgeous art and the challenge is to make something inspired by Alison's pieces now I have been lurking over at PA blog for some time and for some reason have never joined in so this is a first  for me......  here is my wall hanging totally inspired by Alison and PaperArtsy stamps.

Firstly I found some corrugated card packaging and striped down some of the paper then dry brushed gesso over......meant to so some photos but got carried away with the project and forgot.....oops sorry!!
Next I distressed the main piece of card with tea dye, pumice stone distress Inks. I used PaperArtsy Stamps HP1009 and HP1205.  The flower was stamped in Adirondack Esspresso and coloured with distress ink tea dye this way some of the colour from the background also showed through giving a nice shaded look which I liked I also added some pumice stone watered down around some of the bottom petals to make the flower "pop" lastly I added embossing powder to the flower centre, next I stamped the grasses and birds  in pumice stone several times across the bottom and used vintage photo around all edges.  The sentiment which I love was stamped in Espresso and embossed with Wow embossing powder and I distressed with tea dye, cut out added a clipboard clip.

Now at this point I was happy with the way everything had come together but something was missing and try as I might nothing came to me so I slept on it and bright and early this morning I had a flash of inspiration.... to use some stencils...... yes that's better!  I then  mounted this onto my corrugated board added a wire hanging and dah dah.... finished and only in the nick of time so I had better get over to PaperArtsy blog and post or I will miss the deadline.

I would also like to play at Crafts-Too Challenge You where the main theme is Texture and Twist 1
How would you describe your style.......mine would have to be vintage grungy shabby chic anything that lets me get messy while I'm crafting.....I can do cute and do sometimes but my heart lies with vintage and grungy.

Z is for Zebra

My latest page for the Alpha challenge at The Craft Barn had me delving into my stamp stash to find this stamp, I like how this challenge makes me search through my stamp stash and use the ones which have been left unloved (shame on me!) for a long time.  This stamp is no exception as it has to be one of my early buys when I first ventured into the world of rubber stamps.  It is a wooden cube stamp by JudiKins with 4 designs  I have used just 2 on my page and have chosen to leave it black and white.   I was tempted to get my water colours out......

I stamped with Archival black ink onto my gessoed page creating a scene, the dictionary definition had to be cut from another dictionary as my Y page overlapped the Z page, I inked the edges with black soot distress ink.  The letters are Tim Holtz range.....sorry forgotten what they are called ...they are self adhesive plastic.  I am pleased I decided to leave as black and white as I now have several b/w pages which balance up my very colourful pages lol.

Thanks for looking and for all the lovely comments you have been leaving me on my altered dictionary journey

'till next time, happy crafting
