Flowers in the Rain...

News Flash...........My last two ATC's for the Craft Barn Q & L challenge ART/ROAD  HERE have won a prize of ....a gift voucher £20 to spend at the Craft Barn..........I shall be shopping later.......Thank you Craft Barn this is the icing on the cake for a very enjoyable challenge.

Time for  The Craft Barn Qand L challenges  this fortnights words are Flowers/and or Travel.
I have made 2 ATC's, firstly for Flowers I have chosen to go with Lyrics for the song "Watching flowers in the rain" rooted well into the sixties by The Move. I searched for it on UTube Here if you want to sing along, careful it is addictive I have been singing and humming it all week!!!!

I started with a piece of cream card from my bit box which I cut with TH ATC die, this piece had been stencilled with rusty hinge (I think) flowers so I stamped  larger flowers over the top.    I used Free Stamps from Craft Stamper Magazine over this ,the flower was stamped in vintage photo distress ink and the girls eyes in espresso adirondack ink, words printed in word and edged in vintage photo.

 Travel
I searched for a quote and came across this one which I really liked.  Background was again a piece from my bit box cut with Tim's ATC die and had a mixture of stamping and paint on it, I tore bits of TH tissue tape and attached them to the background, quote was printed and edges inked.

Tattered flowers

Hi bloggers here I am again with a last minute make .....where did March go!!   A Mothers Day card and a challenge. at Country View Crafts - Paper Chase.  I find don't use papers very much I do collect them and they do come out for a look every now and then, I may even use a little piece lol .......saying that I really like to make my backgrounds with stamps and ink/paint/sprays, you know me I love to get messy in my crafts.  There are occasions though where a certain style of card shouts use paper , and this card is one.   I haven't made this style for a long while and I found the instructions while browsing through my files (I keep instructions and a sample) of cards which have different folds.

The flower pot has been embossed with two different folders and inked with distress ink vintage photo, flowers were cut with Tim's tattered flower die with 3 different papers (yes I used 3 whole pages) which were spritzed with water scrunched up and left to dry...patience is needed for this step......as they really do need to be bone dry or they will rip....before assembly I inked all edges and creases  with vintage photo.

Label was stamped and punched with hand punches edges inked.  Stamps, ink and punches are from Stampin' Up!

Pull up the top flower and  you have your insert, which is a separate strip of card which inserts into the pot greeting and butterflies.....have to have butterflies a card is naked without them.......in my opinion lol.
As I will be hand delivering this card I haven't worried to much about the size, but the flowers can be made any size and flatter to keep within a standard envelope, I have stamped flowers onto paper/card before and layered them which are flatter for posting.

I really enjoyed making this card, something a little bit different hope you have enjoyed looking.

Live The Life

Hello bloggers over at Craft Stamper Mag  The New Take It  Make It monthly challenge which follows a technique by Trish Latimer on page 6 of the April issue. Now  I love playing with my gelli plate and so I couldn't wait to have a go using an acrylic block with paints and got very messy indeed also I couldn't stop so now have lots of prints to play with later.  I used test pots which I have had for ages in pink, beige, green and white I followed Trish's step by step.

I applied the paint quite thickly which made some lovely texture when I lifted the print also I managed three from  one paint application each one different as the paint was used. Only snag with this was it took a while to dry........and you know I'm don't do waiting very well........but I managed to leave them over night lol!!
Firstly I used two stencils with distress ink over the paint and then I stamped  the tag using a selection of Tim Holtz stamps in black archival ink, panel edges were distressed and inked with black  soot distress ink also tag edges, lastly I added tissue tape.  Great fun and so glad I managed to join in with the first challenge over at my all time favourite Magazine.

I would also like to play at

King of the Road

Hi everyone
Firstly welcome to my new followers thank you for joining me, also a big thank you to everyone who has dropped in and left me some lovely comments I really do appreciate them......thank you :)

I have had a lovely inky few hours this morning making these 2 ATC's and they will fit in with 2 challenges firstly The Craft Barn Q and L challenge, Art and or /Road were the words we had to use, so the first thing that jumped into my head for Road were the lyrics from  one of my favourite Country songs King of the Road which I love, there are lots of  versions by various artists HERE is a link to a UTube version if you want to sing along.  My fist ATC is using a quote including the word
Art.

Oh yes and as you can see I have been heavily influenced by  my Tim Holtz stash.......well he is the King of  all things inky.....and they just happened to be on my desk ( always lol),  which fits in nicely with A Vintage Journey Challenge Anything Tim, my second visit there.

This ATC is softer in colour I used spun sugar and old paper distress inks and stamped the image in coffee Archival, I have had these stamps ages and they are great for a quick effect they are from Eclectic Palatte, Stampers Anonymous.

King of the Road is one of my favourite Country songs and has been sung by so many artists hope you clicked on the link above to hear the version I found on UTube.  Now I had to improvise... there goes that word again..... as really I needed a Train stamp and would you believe it not one in my stamping stash.......so this little truck came to the rescue.  Background is distress inks rusty hinge and tumbled glass, all stamped images are from Tim Holtz stamps Visual Artistry collection, except for the title of the song which is stamped using a small alpha set I have onto distress inked background (same as main image).  I have to apologise for the photo as no matter how many times I took it the words didn't come out in real life they are much darker.........honestly!

Big Bird Tag

Here is my take on the 12 Tags 2014 March  I had none of the stamps Tim used so using a selection I thought would work I "improvised" to make my Tag.  I love learning the new (to me) techniques Tim shares during the 12 tags Journey and I really enjoyed this one.
I have used the same colour distress inks, distress markers.

I stamped the bird in walnut stain and tried the smudge technique which did work ish....then following instructions I coloured in the rest with distress markers wild honey and tumbled glass blended out with water.  I inked up a flourish stamp instead of the feather Tim used and used 3 colours of distress ink, tumbled glass wild honey and rusty hinge which did look lovely at the top of tag ...I say did because you can hardly see it now as it has disappeared under the mask area....
I followed the same technique again as Tim using my distress marker spritzer for the first time.....It has been in the packet since Christmas..........have to say it is easy to use and I am now addicted and have sprayed everything that was on my desk at the time, not because I got it everywhere oh no.....just because I could........I had great fun lol.......anyway back to tag, I moved the mask slightly and spritzed another colour.  Tissue tape was burnished as instructed with my nail I like how it has become more transparent and the birds wing shows through.......must remember to do this each time I use the tape! Lastly I added bakers twine and a piece of Idea-ology which I applied ranger dabber to first .  Ribbon was dyed with the same inks as above.

I shall link this tag to Tim's blog and also to A Vintage Journey Challenge #1 a new challenge blog where I am sure I am going to enjoy playing.

ATC's

I have managed to complete my ATC's for The Craft Barns 4th Quotes and Lyrics Challenge today despite my Mojo taking a day off without telling me.........!! The words for this challenge were
Marriage/and or Age. Here is what I managed to struggle to come up with.

The first two are song Lyrics for "Marriage" not very original but Mojo was very absent!!  Backgrounds are some papers which I had left over from another project which had been splattered with distress stains, I then used some small Tim Holtz stamps all over these in various light colours ...so light they are not showing up in photo...... :(
Heart was punched from card which had had the wrinkle free technique all from  my bits and bobs box, over stamped with the same stamps as background.  Male and female stamp is a free one from Craft Stamper Magazine last year.

These two ATCs are age Quotes
Backgrounds as above this time they were stamped over with black archival and Tim Holtz ATC stamps.  Quotes were printed on a label machine.
All ATCs were cut with the Sizzix Alterations Bigz ATC die and corners.

Not a good afternoon crafting but at least I managed to complete the challenge and with just a few hours spare no time to try again later........hope Mojo comes back soon!!
