ALTERED BIRD FEEDER
It's that time again another month over and another altered item for Alter It Monthly,(AIM) I'm really enjoying these challenges and they are certainly dragging me into the world of Altered Art; for that I thank you for a great challenge blog and for the lovely comments I have received.
Enough rambling and onto the piece I altered, I found an apple bird feeder there was a bar for apple to go on and cut out of the middle is the shape of a bird; it was greatly reduced so I immediately thought AIM; so it is safe to say I am addicted, lol; I don't think you can see the bird shape in photo - you may if you look hard, go on harder....... LOL.
Firstly I sanded the feeder to distress the edges and then painted with Ranger Acrylic paint dabber in lemonade and rubbed most of it off when nearly dry leaving the green paint(original colour) showing through
I cut some of my Tim Holtz papers for the roof and scalloped the edges.
Die cut cage and birds from Tim Holtz Alterations Die I cut the cage in Grungepaper and card, birds in grungepaper. The card cage was embossed in cuttlebug folder and inked with DI rusty hinge and shabby shutters, then glued to grungepaper die, beads from old bracelet. Birds were inked with rusty hinge and shabby shutters one wing is TH papers and on the other one is TH Tissue tape, feathers in my stash. Flowers were cut with Tattered Flower Die in Grungeboard and old book pages, inked with DI wild honey, spun sugar, rusty hinge and shabby shutters.
I stamped the words "Love Warms Every Nest" (creative expressions stamps) onto old book pages and inked with spiced marigold, they show up well in real life but not so well in photo, also Home Tweet Home across the top, the hook the cage is hanging from was in the roof to hang up for the birds. I have this hanging in my conservatory and the breeze is swinging the cage and the beads are jangling like a wind chime a lovely added bonus - I would say I meant this to be so...... but you'd all know I was kidding you.....
Hope you like my attempt for the challenge, I love how it has turned out

That's an awesome birdhouse ya got there. Love how you incorporated the Tim Holtz die into it.
ReplyDeleteGreat birdhouse Maggie, I especially like the feathery tails and the words 'love warms every nest'. And I quite like the fact it's turned into a windchime too!
