I am a very happy crafter today because I have managed to make my first Tag of Tim's 12 tags of 2014 yippee :)) I failed miserably last year not one was made :(
I followed Tim's tutorial on the link above so will not be describing the how to, although I have had to improvise (that is a word you will hear a lot during the 12 tags journey) with the dies and products I had in my stash. The background was made with distress stain frayed burlap and I inked through the weathered clock die (a spare) with pumice stone distress ink.
Not having the remnant rubs, I stamped numbers in black archival ink instead.
As you will see I have used the Weathered Clock Die for the main image and different stamps, everything I used will be listed at the end of the post.
The stamp learn to pause ....was stamped onto vanilla card and cut out inked with black soot, in place of the stickers Tim used. Cogs were added to the tag.
In this close up you can see the splattering which I did using an old toothbrush, which gets you very messy, I "need" a splatter brush lol! I also rubbed black paint into the Time Tag, which I attached with small safety pins.
I have really enjoyed making this tag and although I followed Tim's techniques I also enjoy finding what I have in my stash and improvising becomes part of the enjoyment, I am really pleased with the finished tag................. roll on February can't wait.
I will be linking this tag over on Tim's blog, pop over if you already haven't there are some amazing tags to be seen.
'till next time
I like your tag and that you didn't feel you had to use the exact same ingredients as Tim. Have often seen this challenge on other blogs but never participated myself. hugs Mrs A.

A fantastic version of Tim's tag Maggie! xx
ReplyDeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteDelicious improvising - I love the quote in place of the chitchat stickers (one of my favourite sentiments!), and the texture on the weathered clock is fab... great take on the tag!
