Hi everyone hope you all had a good weekend, yesterday I had a crafty day in my PJ's, wonderful the wind was howling and it was raining so I was happy to be in the warm. Firstly though I had to tidy my desk as I had no space to create.........my room is in a terrible mess.........after moving stuff around and making a space I came across a messy painty background which I had put aside from another project which didn't work for me at the time just shows when you go back to something it can appear completely different.
The background was saying stormy skies so flicking through my stencils I found just the one and an idea was born.
The background was made by slapping on lots of colour with ranger dabber paints, sorry can't remember which colours as I did this a while ago.
The stencil I used was Tando Creative City Skyline with texture paste, after drying I went over with gesso this also lightened this area a little when dry I lightly used black soot distress ink on cut and dry foam over the skyline, the gesso changes the colour of the ink and I like the effect I got. The stamp from Tim Holtz was stamped onto book page paper and embossed with black fine detail embossing powder. I then mounted my work onto sand and black card which I intend to mount into a frame unfortunately the frames I have I didn't like so this will have to be done later.
I would like to play along at the following Challenges
Our Creative Corner challenge Tic Tac Toe ( using middle line Paints/ Stamps/ Stencils)
The Craft Barn Weekly Challenge - use a Tando product (City Skyline stencil)
I just had to share this black and white blackbird which hopped into the garden today and I couldn't resist taking his picture
Hello Maggie, you made a beautiful stormy scene, a great way of using this Tando's mask by Neil if I well remember! The quote is perfect!! Coco x

Perfect stormy background which works really well with that stencil. I love the way you've added the quote too. Thanks so much for joining my Tic Tac Toe challenge at Our Creative Corner. Juliax
ReplyDeleteWhat luck that you hadn't binned the fabulous background, it teams perfectly with the stencil and quote.
ReplyDeleteSo glad this painty background found its way back to the top of your desk - brilliant idea to use the cityscape stencil - this is amazing, Maggie!
