A little hanging and some challenges
At Country View Challenge #12 this month it is Painty Pleasures and  Tando Creative challenge is Passions, my passions are  stamps and getting very inky and painty, so I hope this fits their challenge.
So today I lost myself in my little craft room and got very painty.  There are quite a few photos so I hope you can stay until the end.

I had no idea where I was going with this project when I started only that I was going to use a piece of packaging (part of a box) that I had saved and some new PaperArtsy stamps HP 1008EZ which I have just bought to cheer myself up!.
Firstly I exposed some of the corrugated backing then added paints to the panel.  I used Adirondack paint Aqua and Pool, also some cream acrylic tester pot paint which I dry brushed  and used fingers to blend the colours, I love getting my hands into the paint.

next I used a mask  firstly with pool paint and by moving the mask slightly I went over again with aqua leaving a shadow effect I was really pleased how this turned out you can just see it under the stamped image.  I was lucky enough to win this mask oblong/square from a Tando Creative challenge.

next using same mask and texture paste I added some to top and bottom corners, I also rubbed some over an area with my finger so just leaving a little texture, when dry more paint and distress ink was added.

flowers I found in my stash they had gems in which I didn't like so I replaced them with the little buttons, corners are from Creative Expressions I love them so using them is hard....lol but the corners were crying out for something.

 

 

Everything was stamped with Ranger Archival Ink coffee, words were stamped onto cream card with same ink and I used distress inks antique linen all over the card  and vintage photo around the edges, after they had been cut out.  Metal butterfly was silver so I altered this with a alcohol pen.

Vintage photo distress ink was rubbed over the raised areas and around the edges.  I also used  wax  rub on with my finger over all the raised edges unfortunately I couldn't get the camera to pick this up but in real life it looks fabulous.  The hanging is destined for the bedroom as the colours are a perfect match .......which was a pure accident!

I have recycled an envelope and decorated into a gift envelope for giving money or gift cards etc.  I have many birthdays in January including my daughter's she will be 40.........omg how did that happen!!

I had great fun making  this rummaging through my papers and flowers and ribbons to find the colours I needed and once gathered together I just had a great time cutting and sticking it all together.

I added distress ink vintage photo to all the edges including  the tag, Happy Birthday was stamped in black archival, pieces of washi tape were torn and added to the pink spotty paper and to the tag between the ribbons the green rickrack is velvet it is gorgeous in real life.

Oriental Clock

Hello bloggers on a very cold but sunny (well it was) it's getting dark now Saturday, hope you are all well. 
Today I have shut myself in my craft room to have a little play and also finish off  1 or 2 ( or 3)
projects I have had on the go for a while and trying to get my head around Christmas cards for the family..........not much luck there!!!      One project I did finish is this altered CD clock using my new Sheena Douglas A Little Bit Oriental stamps sets, I treated myself to all three A5 plates in the series as I just love Oriental anything. 
This project fits in with the challenge at Craft a Scene which is Trees

 

 I have used stamps from Koi and Waterlillies and Oriental Silhouettes.
Firstly I inked a white circle of card with bundled sage and dusty concord ink lightly at first by only dragging across the card with cut and dry foam, I darkened areas later as I added the stamps. I used   the bridge (Oriental Silhouettes)  and built up the colour around the edges and behind the bridge, with water I dragged some colour into the bridge. Next the water (Kio and Waterlillies) was stamped in dusty concord and I painted the lilly pads with bundled sage and shaded with dusty concord.  Next came the trees ( Oriental Silhouettes)... aren't they wonderful love this stamp.......in Forest Green Stazon.
Lastly I added two  Cranes....well that's what I think they are!  The numbers are black plastic from the Tim Holtz stable but sorry have no idea what they are called as I have no packaging and have had them ages......they are sticky on the back but I also used glossy accents to make sure they stayed stuck! 
I sanded around the edge of the card after I had stuck it to the CD with glossy accents and added dusty concord to them, lastly  I added clock mechanism and voila I have a lovely clock to hang in my bedroom.

Trick or Treat......and a little bit Spooky

Hello bloggers sorry it has been so quite over here but somehow "life" seems to have got in the way of my crafting time and I cleaned out my craft room too and have hardly had chance to play in there......... anyway today I just needed some me time and to play with stash I "found" while clearing out my room of stash, so with Halloween  and a few challenges  in mind I have made this......

 

 

Tando Creative Challenges for October is "Spook It" so starting with a Tando Mini Print Tray I "found" in the bottom of a draw seemed a good place to begin, I painted with black paint and when dry I brushed with gold Distress stain.  Using IndigoBlu stamp set Hocus Pocus I stamped several images onto orange stripped paper. Using Tim Holtz Bingo embossing folder and black card I embossed and cut out No. "31"  and cut the big spider with Tim Holtz Alterations die...(I hate spiders) eeek! we have a lot coming into the house at the moment..............

 

 

 

 

Spell bottles were filled with coloured sweet wrappers (yep I keep everything)..... purple, green, and orange, "Spells" was stamped onto card swooshed with distress inks (from my bit box). Stamps are a miniature alpha set, not sure of make. 

 

 

Pumpkin is another "find" and is soft foam I rubbed vintage photo distress ink over it and black soot around the edges, an Idea-ology pin was used to attach a Halloween Sticker (TH) , more stickers - Trick Treat were used at the top of the tray , also I stamped the bird onto orange card.

 Phew I think that's  all it is harder to explain then to make lol, I really enjoyed getting all painty and inky and covered in glue...such fun

Oh I do Love to be beside the Seaside..................

Hello crafters and a special hello to my new followers and for all the lovely comments from everyone who has stopped by my little crafting space, thank you.
Today I want to share a Summer Hanging I have made........I thought as summer seems to be absent I would try and create some of my own to hang in my little crafty room, and Crafty Individuals challenge for June is Sea Sun Beach and as I have just bought a new stamp Crafty Individuals CI-284  it would be rude not to play there don't you think lol. 

This stamp set includes two beautiful images, bunting and words, I have used One whole image and parts of the others in this project.  The inspiration for my hanging was a background, one of many I have waiting to be made into "something" using Distress Inks onto water colour paper. From this I cut out a tag Tim Holtz die dry brushed gesso over the top and wiped away.  Background for the hanging is corrugated card dry brushed with cloudy blue and pink sherbet paint dabber Ranger and wiped off before dry, lastly a light coat of  white gesso, I distressed the edges of this and the tag and inked with vintage photo distress inks.
The lovely beach girls were stamped in Adirondack Ink-Espresso onto the bottom of the tag, stamping onto water colour paper you get a great distressed image.

The photos of the four girls faces is from the other image on the stamp sheet and I cut them out and added the photo strip....I love the effect it has created.....

I found another piece of background which had the same colours and a great effect looking like peeled paint I over stamped in espresso with a crackle stamp , stamped the words  inked the edges with vintage photo and added the clip and the  wish tag which I left hanging loose,  I brushed over these first with cloudy blue dabber and wiped off again. Also the lovely bunting  "Life's a Beach" is another stamp from CI284 which was stamped onto same background and cut out.

Sorry about the crooked "wish" sign in the photo - just noticed it!! It is hanging straight in rl honest!

 



The lace and rickrack came from my mothers sewing box along with some other fabulous bits and pieces and I couldn't resist using it on this project.

A lovely project to make and I enjoyed getting painty and inky.....hope Summer takes the hint......lol.

Altered Block

I am still away and working with limited crafty bits, among the things I bought with me was a bag of bits and bobs from my "bits" box which included die cuts and bits of this and that.......we all have them ..yes!!

There is a challenge running at  Country View Crafts for June calling for us to use Die Cuts.....I have been meaning to play along here for a while just seemed always to run out of time so today I sat in the sunshine and played with all the bag of bits and bobs I had bought with me, along with a small wooden block which was packed thinking "I'll do something with this while I'm away" thought going through my head........ enough waffling here is what I came up with  post is a bit picture heavy and some are not so good light in Motorhome not so good for piccy taking!!  :-)

Front........I started by adding pretty papers from Crafty Individuals to the block and sanding the edges and inking with vintage photo, I added a little piece of torn music paper(tag is hiding it), tag is diecut sizzix I think inked edges and music paper and a little piece of  embossed co-ordinations which I sanded, and a piece of bird which had been cut from Tim Holtz cage and bird from a metal embossed sheet which looks like I have added alcohol inks too, lastly added pearl, this was tied to the cage with strips of netting .

Back....another cage was added to the back and another die cut bird which has been cut from paper and inked music paper and a piece of embossed metal again tied at the top with netting, I had two cages and 2 and a bit birds in my bits bag, along with the small flower which is part of the Tattered Flower Die TH.

Top ..........I had various pieces of the larger tattered flower cut from book pages and also grunge paper which had been overed in inks and paper and inks so I assembled these into a large flower, the centre piece was made by wetting and scrumpling several together and left to dry then I inked all the edges showing.

 

Sides................Last two photos thanks for staying with me...........I added two strips of embossed foil TH folder and sanded them, you can also see the papers and  inked edges.  I had lots of fun playing and creating this today and had no idea where it would lead when I started which is great fun for me... thanks for the challenge and I will be back another day  to check out all the other entries as my power is running low again

V is for Victorian

The Craft Barn are running an Alpha Challenge which I am keen to join in with and follow to the end.........hopefully.  The first letter is V click on the link for more details.

So far the start hasn't been great, also January is a busy month in the family with 5 birthdays including mine (tomorrow  don't ask it is a big big one......gulp where did time go to)!!!! So  altogether with friends we have 10 birthdays ....and I realised today that if i didn't get my page done today I would miss the deadline .....heads to craft room.....which is a total bomb zone left over from Christmas etc. No mojo there then!!!!!!!!!

Anyway I have decided to alter a dictionary for this challenge and my chosen 'v' word is Victorian.  My first choice of stash was of course Tim Holtz stamps and inks so armed with various stamps sets and vintage photo and aged mahogany, black archival my page was born.

Blue and Sparkly.......

The challenge for December over at Crafty Individuals is "All Wrapped Up" there are some fabulous inspiration projects to feast the eyes on pop over and have a look you won't be disappointed.
I have made a Christmas gift bag using CI - 137 stamp as the main image this is a non Christmas stamp but I think it works really well for any occasion I have added lots of bling to the project and it is product heavy I think I used everything that was close to hand......but if you can't indulge at Christmas when can you............lol :-) 

I will list everything I used and try and keep the post as short as possible just so you don't drop off!!
,.Firstly my bag started life as a plain white carrier not sure where I got it as I have had it ages just waiting to be altered.... I inked over with Antique Linen DI to take away the bright white, stormy sky was added to the edges. Main image was stamped in stormy sky and antique linen was applied all over, stickles rock candy was added to the wings and waterfall to the edges. Next spellbinders teardrop circle was cut and then run through sizzix embossing folder swirls design and inked with same DI's, paper panels were from TH vintage shabby paper stack and border was cut with spellbinders ironworks die (top and bottom) edges inked with same DI's and waterfall stickles added to all edges. It really does sparkle in the light shame photo doesn't show it up too well. Lace from my stash. This was layered onto a white panel distressed with DI's  and final panel is from TH distress collection pack and sanded before distressing all the edges.

Flower - was cut with tattered floral die stamped with papillon background stamp in grey Memento Ink and inked with DI's and jewel brad in centre, circle underneath is from spellbinders as before smaller size, spellbinders floral flourishes die was used to cut the swirls

Tag - for the tag I cut 2 more shapes from same paper stack with ironworks set glued together punched a circle from silver mirri board,  teardrop circle was stamped Merry Christmas with tumbled glass DI,  attached to the tag.

To finish more lace from my stash was tied in a bow to the handle.

I have had this lace for years and years I collect bundles of lace where ever I go and have quite a collection and only recently found some more which was hiding in the bottom of my sewing box! Apologies for the last two photos!! I must have had the shakes!!
Now bag is finished and sitting sparkling in the light I am not sure I want to give it away.......Oh dear does that mean I will have to make another.........rofl!

Vintage Sewing Room......

.....Altered Frame
I have been playing with my new Tim Holtz Alterations Die - Sewing Room and the newTexture Fades eembossing folder Pattern and Stitches and some new -  to me - stamps Vintage Sewing Plate from Creative Expressions and  I love love love them all.  I just knew I needed the dress form as soon as I saw it, the ideas are spinning around in my head so I'm sure this won't be the last project I do with it, you will probably get fed up seeing it!!! LOL

Sooooo the first project I knew I wanted to do was alter a frame as I had bought some Viva Terra and Viva Inka Gold ages and ages ago for just this purpose,  and Try it on Tuesday challenge blog  this week the challenge is Alter a Frame with a fab prize donated by the Craft Barn, now I have meaning to play over there for a while now but time is always against me and I have only just made it this week with hours to spare !!

My frame was covered in Viva Terra and when dry I  lightly rubbed some Viva Inka Gold over the raised edges can you see the sparkle? I love the feel of this cream it's just soooooo soft.  Background paper is from Vintage Shabby Paper Stack which I thought looked like vintage wallpaper. The dress form is cut from Stampin' Up! Card Early Espresso and Crumb Cake which I ran through the embossing folder and inked over with DI tattered rose with vintage photo on the edges, cotton reels and buttons were cut from co-ordinations card stock and sanded, one is carrying pins and the others I wound with thread, edges were inked with same colours of DI. 
The flower was made from some lace I found in my sewing box and I lightly dragged  it through some worn lipstick and tattered rose DI which I had spritzed on my craft sheet and added a button. More buttons and some mini safety pins added to the frame.  The tape measure  I rolled up and tucked the roll under the dress form leaving a tail  as it unravels this I  made by stamping with archival ink and stamp from Vintage Sewing  onto twill tape from Stampin' Up!   Message is from same set.

 Thought you might like a close up of the word plaque which is soooo definitely true - in this house anyway!!
Hope you like my efforts It has turned out just as I hoped reminding me of how my sewing room  used to feel in another life before I found those little things called rubber stamps and started making inky things instead of sewing things, lol and this is another first for me - can you believe it is the first frame I have altered and I have many that I have collected from charity shops etc., so will have to do more.....

I will also be entering  the following challenges I don't usually manage to join challenges together and it wasn't my intention when I created this project but my creation seems to fit the bill on several blog sites which means I get to play at more places this week - fantastic!

SEASIDE TREASURES - ALTERED MATCHBOX

Alter It Monthly are a new challenge blog which I came across quite by chance (as you do).  I am a beginner at Altered Art and thought why not join in!!
So here is my very first post, my very first altered matchbox on my very new blog :)
I love to beachcomb and  I always come away with a pocket full of shells and bits and pieces, so I thought I would make a place to keep my Seaside Treasures.  Yes that is real sand including bits of seaweed inside the shell at the back which was in the bag with the shells.  Hope you like my efforts.
Looking forward to the next challenge "Tin Pan Ally".  I have my tin at the ready just need some inspiration
and off we go again.
