Distressed Flowers

Hi 

Today I would like to share a card I made  for the Claritystamp Challenge on Facebook, using up some of my backgrounds I have been making  so this was quick card to put together.

Background was made with Distress Inks and I also added some Ken Oliver Colour Burst and spritzed lightly.

Using Claritystamp stamps I stamped 3 times onto the dried background with shabby shutter distress ink for a muted image.  I married two stamps together as I wanted to use this pretty Lady's Mantel stamp and the stem from another.  Word stamp stamped onto same background cutout and Flakes applied to edges.......very sticky fingers..... 😊

Using flitter glue For the final image and Guilding Flakes I also dabbed glue randomly onto background and applied the Flakes.

This panel was mounted onto coordinations card which I sanded back, added to a Kraft card blank.

Winter Walk

This Christmas card was made using a stamp set from Sheena Douglass stamp range.
I stamped with Distress ink vintage photo and blended with water for a watercolour look.
The sparkle on the snow and on the trees was added with spectrum noir clear sparkle pen which I have tried to capture in this photo

 

I mounted my die cut panel onto gold background which I made using pebeo metallic gold paint ages ago, I am trying to use my backgrounds which I have fun making and then don't use in my cards so this year I am goin to use them and also make as many Christmas cards as I can to save the rush I have every year.

Whimsical Owl Trio

I couldn't resist this Trio of Owls and have coloured them in bright colours which I really think suits the Whimsical look of the design and it was great fun.
Spectrum Noir pens were my choice of colouring medium in bright pink, pale blue, lime green and yellow.  I cut them into three tags added distress ink around the edges and coordinating ribbons.  The background was a piece of pearl pink card which I embossed with a brick design embossing folder by Sheena Douglass.

Underwater Scene

The Weeks just seem to fly by these days I turned around and The Craft Barn have announced another letter in the Alpha Challenge I am trying to keep up with lol.

This time the letter is S and the twist is use a shell, well I immediately thought seaside......wish I was there.........but after reading through my dictionary I found the word Seaweed so I ran with it.

on my page I have included several S words......Seaweed, Seahorse, Shells in my Underwater Scene

Firstly I washed over the whole page with Aqua Tint Inks using lots of water, next I wiped over with a damp baby wipe to lighten areas. 

My stamps are from Sheena Douglas A Little Sketchy Range - I used 3 sets in all I will put all the details at the end of the post, using  2 different colours of Aqua tint Colour I painted them  onto the seaweed stamps they were quite wet and stamped I love the effect this gives and was really pleased with the resulting seaweed which really looks like it is under the water. 

I had to add a Seahorse to the scene as I adore these cute little animals they fascinate me and the male looks after the babies!!, would love to see one in real life.
The seahorse was inked up with distress inks peacock feathers and over stamped in vintage photo, there is one solid stamp and one detailed which is great for this effect.  The little fishes were stamped in vintage photo and with damp paint brush I moved the ink around the images.

Lastly I stamped the shells in distress paint -  fossilized amber and tea dye, there was a lot of paint on the image which I painted into  the shell shape which gave an opaque cover, dried this with heat gun and over stamped in vintage photo and spiced marmalade to give back the shell definition. The edges of the pages were inked with vintage photo, also the dictionary quote edges and the letter S which was firstly painted with the same distress paints and lastly there is a great quote stamp with the set and it just seemed to fit........

Phew hope you hung on in to the end lol,  this took longer to type than to make. I had great fun making my mixed media Art Journal page and am really pleased with the result, thinking I might make another one in a similar way but on canvas and hang in the bathroom I have just the space........

Pretty in Pink

Todays post is another AJ page, as you know I have been playing along with the Craft Barn Alpha Challenge and the letter for this 2 weeks  is D with a twist Pink has to be included! I have missed the last two challenges but I do intend to do the pages so my journal is complete.

Dragonfly and Spring popped straight into my head and I have this fabulous stamp set  from Sheena Douglass Range of stamps with matching dies, I  love this set, and any excuse to use it and I'm there.

I used distress Inks picked raspberry, mown lawn and vintage photo, using a stencil again from Sheena Douglass range I inked the wild flowers moving stencil across page, I then blended the same inks over the page and spritzed with water, the flowers wicked slightly, I really like this effect it softens the stencil a little and the background goes nice and splodgy....I like that word lol......

The Dragonfly was stamped in vintage photo straight onto the page, also stamped and die cut twice from copy paper and white card.  The Paper Dragonfly was coloured with picked raspberry and then stamped in black archival, I also used  gold pebeo gilding wax on the wings this really shines in real life photo doesn't really pick it up, the card dragonfly was painted in gold metallic paint and stamped over in archival ink.  I choose to cut them out first and then stamp them I find it an easier process.

Lastly I used the beautiful corner stamp in vintage photo and the word Dragonfly both stamps come in the set.

With Love

Hello everyone

Challenge 175 starts today at Glitter N Sparkle and this week  Love is in the Air.

My DT inspiration card was made using the beautiful Image Aurora from The EastWind.

I have used papers from my stash and distressed and torn the edges before adding vintage photo distress inks, a doily heart was inked with tattered rose and vintage photo, as were the edges of my image.  Image was coloured with promarkers and glitter added to areas of flowers and dress (not showing in photo sorry) .Sentiment was stamped in espresso ink and same distress inks were used before punching out heart shape, the two other hearts were in my stash.  I also added some vintage lace and the gorgeous roses which I had been keeping....just couldn't use them lol, until now as I thought they complemented Aurora perfectly.

Today I am sharing my DT card for the  new challenge which starts today at Glitter N Sparkle  Hope you can join in for Challenge 173 Embossing - Dry or Heat.

This week my image is Baking Love - Lemon Shortbread

I have coloured this gorgeous image with promarkers before cutting with an oval die and then embossing with a sizzix folder - I have to confess this step was a - what if moment - but I loved the texture achieved on the image which really made her pop, the edges were inked with victorian velvet distress ink to achieve another layer and show u the texture.   Next an oval aperture was cut from a piece of pink ColourCore card which was then embossed and the design was sanded back, a layer of pink patterned paper was added behind the aperture before adding my image. Edges of the card base were also inked with Victorian velvet, lastly pink gems were added.

My card was made with an image from Oddball Art - Mr Sweets

I coloured Mr Sweets with Inktense Pencils and blended with water, the background layers were die cut in shades of browns to match Mr Sweets, sentiment was stamped with Distress Ink spiced marmalade.

Winter Stag

Today I am sharing a card I made for A milestone birthday recently celebrated by my DH one he was not very happy with....but he loved his card lol


I used a new stamp to me first time inked from Clarity Stamps and my old favourites distress inks.

Stag was stamped in black versafine ink and I used masking fluid to mask him first then I applied Distress Inks stormy sky, faded jeans and chipped sapphire to create the winter scene behind him, Stag was then filled in with Vintage photo. This was then cut with a circle die, next layer was inked in stormy skies and faded jeans for the background, last layer again card cut with die, tattered lace. Sentiment stamps are Kanban.

Cheeky Autumn Owl Trio

Today I would like to share a trio of ATC's. I used the  owl free stamp with November Craft Stamper Magazine, I will also be joining their October TIMI Challenge.
I love owls and really enjoyed making this trio. I started with the background using distress inks and stamps building up the master board until I was happy.  I meant to take photos of the master board in progress but I forgot as I got carried away in the moment :)  Below are the details.

Master board - I started with distress inks on white card, crushed olive, mustard seed, frayed burlap, dried marigold, vintage photo, applying them in a random way until I was happy. I cut this to size and then the next step was to use a TCW stencil with rusty hinge  distressed dots (at bottom of ATC's.) Stamps used are Sheena Douglass - Ageing Beautifully set,  a great set for distress effects.  I used the fabulous distressed corner stamp with black archival, the crackle was stamped in aged mahogany (behind owls), and script (at the bottom) in black archival


I made another master board with distress inks peacock feather, tea dye, frayed burlap. I dabbed the pads directly onto craft mat added water and swiped the card through the inks, stamped the owl in black archival 6 times to allow me to add layers to the wings and eyes with foam pads, which doesn't seem to show up in the photo. :(
Edges of each were distressed  and inked with aged mahogany.

Using Tim Holtz tattered pine die I cut leaves in kraft card and inked with distress inks aged mahogany, crushed olive, frayed burlap, vintage photo and added pieces of burlap and layered buttons. Lastly I added chit chat stickers - creating-altered-treasure.  words which fitted my creations perfectly for me as I love making these little treasures of art, they give me real pleasure not only to make but to keep.  I used to swap them but haven't done so for a very long time.

Autumn Walk Hanging

Here is my make for a couple of  September challenges at two of my favourite places which I haven't managed to play at for too long.  Craft a Scene and A Vintage Journey
As I'm touring in Norfolk and Lincolnshire as we speak I had to make the little grey cells work hard as I  only had very limited supplies with me.   Edit: I'm Home  now. I tried to post this while away gave up after wifi signal was so poor wouldn't let me upload anything!!!!  I have emailed my entry to Craft a Scene but will now add link there hope this ok with them.

The stamp I have used is a Sheena Douglass stamp from her new Country Christmas set so it is meant to be a winter scene...... so to alter the look I first inked up some white  card with distress inks (I never leave home without them) in  autumnal colours, dried marigold, rusty hinge and mustard seed, stamped in archival black and coloured in the couple with distress inks and water....... mown lawn and rusty hinge, also adding extra colour where needed.  I like it when a stamp can be used for more than it was designed for makes me use them more.
I also had a some spellbinders die sets  in the "van" left from another trip......no wonder I can't find anything. ?......... :))  I cut lots of leaves in white card and also orange green and kraft which I inked before taking out of the dies using same colours as before.
I cut up a piece of packaging and embossed a Kraft piece of card with a bark effect embossing folder going over the embossing with vintage photo and rusty hinge to highlight the bark effect, which I then stuck to the packaging to make my hanging sturdier.  The black card was cut using spellbinders and main image was attached to this.  I also found some string after a rummage in the "van" and used this as my hanging loop and also tied several strips into a knot and frayed them out.
I was pleased how my hanging turned out having limited supplies certainly makes you focus more and  proving a stamp isn't just for Christmas lol.

At the Lakes

Firstly thank you all so much for the congratulations and comments on my Big Bird March Tag 2014, which has had a whopping 395 hits...wow.   I was and still am beyond thrilled that Tim picked it as a winner, I clicked the link 3 times before I believed it was me!!!! lol.

My latest make is an Anniversary card and it fits in well with the April challenge at Craft a Scene Hills and Mountains. Also a few other challenges I have listed below and with some hints in italics as you read on.  
Stamps used are Sheena Douglass from the range A Little Bit Sketchy, this has to be one of my favourites from that range  as I love the little boats, also this scene reminds me of the new beginnings of Summer, with hopefully those lazy hazy crazy days of summer (song by Nat King Cole) to follow.

I have used 2 stamps and placed them with enough space to form a Lake.  Stamped in Archival Ink coffee and water coloured  with distress inks which I mixed together in some cases making my own shades, I've listed them all below.  The sky I embossed with a cloud embossing folder which I had in my stash, I like the textured effect this gave.  Finished scene was mounted onto cream card and then dark brown.

Silence is Golden................

Hi bloggers hope you are all safe and dry I can not believe the weather we are experiencing  rain and more rain and here it is so cold windy and wet today. 
Today I am going to share my latest entry  for the Q & L challenge at The Craft Barn.  If you not sure what I am talking about click on the link for The Craft Barn and all will be revealed.

For challenge #2 we have the choice of 2 words Silence and Dazzle.  Well the first thing that popped into my head was the song Silence is Golden by the Tremeloes, fabulous song at the time and I have been singing it every since lol.  I have made an ATC with a tag pocket thingy.....

 

 

Firstly apologies for photo's the light here is so poor today. I cut a tag with Tim Holtz large tag die and folded up the end to make a pocket to hold the ATC.





The tag was inked with distress ink wild honey dried marigold I added rusty hinge through several masks one was a retro circle design, another was dots and lastly bars.  I stamped and embossed in gold with a stamp from my Tim Holtz  stash.

 

 

 

ATC was inked in the same inks and stencils the "eyes" stamp is an really old one  and knew I had to use it as it went so well with the words, I embossed the edges with gold embossing which also stuck to the wet ink which I had forgotten to dry so a happy accident as I like the result.  The words I typed and printed out on the computer, cut into strips and inked the edges with rusty hinge.

Secret Garden

S is for................... Secret which is my chosen word this time for the letter "S" in the Alpha Dictionary Challenge at The Craft Barn, a quick and simple page.  I was running out of time as challenge ends on Sunday and as we are nearly at the end of the challenge I simply couldn't miss one now as I have kept up all the way through, some weeks I have finished my page just under the wire!!

 A little bit Magical Stamp set Sheena Douglass and distress inks, vintage photo, walnut stain, forest moss, pine needles were used to make this Secret place, I adore this set  and this is the first time I have inked them up.

Off to have a look at the other entries while I have time, thank you to everyone who stops by my blog and spends time leaving me lovely comments I really appreciate it and enjoying reading them.

Dare I ask how your Christmas preparations are going................hectic here  this time last week we were away for the weekend, then visitors for a few days,  they have gone home now so today is the first chance I have had to play, Christmas shopping to finish and baking to do..............not sure when I will be back.........

Canal Barge Christmas

I have been wanting to join in over at the Clarity Stamp Challenge for a while, but with only two Clarity stamp sets the challenge really is a challenge for me as you can use only Clarity stamps.
So today I bit the bullet and made this card to join in with challenge 9 Christmas. 

Stamp sets used Canal Barge Kit and Kingfisher kit (tree)

Think cold and frosty with snow on the hills, spending Christmas on the canal............well that's what I was thinking when I set to make my card, Distress Inks stormy sky and chipped sapphire were used for the wintery sky and crushed olive and vintage photo for the water.   Images were stamped in black archival and vintage photo.  Barge was coloured with Spectrum Noir Pens.   I added glitter for frost and  snow with quickie glue pen.  Merry Christmas was generated on the computer as I haven't got a clarity one.  This was mounted onto centura  pearl card and I found a piece of card which was the same colour as the barge for my card blank.

A Splattering we will go.........

Hey Ho a Splattering we will go...................

Lol  sorry for the tittle but I had to go with it has been in my head since the start of this project....... ...anyway hope you all had a good weekend and it wasn't too cold where you are. I had a lovely lazy crafty weekend and got quite a lot done including this project which fits in with two  challenges  -   Craft Stamper Make It Take It Challenge 5  - Use a splatter technique as shown by Paula Whittaker in the November issue and Letters which is the November Challenge at Country View Crafts

Now who can resist getting all splattery (is that a word...) well not me that's for sure as you all know I love to get all inky and messy in the craft room so here is what I came up with.

I found a piece of mount board lurking in the draw which was just the right size for my plaque I covered the board with distress stain and went around the edges with tarnished bronze metallic distress stain, next I had a rummage through my gelli plate papers I have waiting to be used remember I am very new to the gelli and these backgrounds are my first attempts, I used a cut out from a magazine as a template, you can just see the outline of the lady in green.
I decided to use glimmer mists and distress inks and distress stain to make my splatters.  Firstly I splattered with Cosmic Shimmer Mists -  aqua lagoon, golden mint, midnight blue -  by undoing the top and using the inside pumpy bit to flick the ink.....ooooh fabulous results, next came distress fired brick squidged onto my craft mat and then with a damp old toothbrush I loaded it up and  flicked this over some areas quite subtle but I liked it, lastly I splodged barn door distress stain using a lot of arm power to make a big splodge lol! 
Of course I had to add stamping using flourish stamp from my TH stash in chipped sapphire second generation stamping so they faded into the background, Butterflies TH in black archival ink.

Thought you might like a photo of splatters in progress which actually shows up the colours well and my practise splodges this scrap paper  has been saved to my bits box so nothing wasted lol.

 The strips you see here are spare from trimming down my gelli print which I intended to stamp onto but changed my mind and splattered some white card with same ingredients as above to stamp my words onto using Stampasaurus stamps "carry on",  I thought these words were very apt ........for me anyway...........at this time of year.!  I stamped in jet black archival and embossed with black fine detail EP.  All edges were distresses and inked with chipped sapphire and black soot.   Finally a touch of idea-ology hardware and my plaque was finished which will now stand in my craft room to remind me to "Keep Calm and Carry On"!

Tip when shaking bottles of spray mists keep piece of kitchen roll around top this will save you getting covered in colour......I now have a lovely blue lagoon spotted tee-shirt !

Two posts in one day Wow unheard of for me lol; 
I have had a lovely day today crafting and wanted to share one of the Tags I made which also fits in with Crafts-Too Challenge You for November Twist 2 - Polychromatic - 3 colours I have used green red and gold very traditional colours which I love.

A sprinkling of Tim Holtz and stickles glitter and my tag was born.  Santa's face isn't really green ....honest but for some reason photo turned his beard green.  (see photo below)as I can't take another as it's dark now, think the light was going when original was taken which was probably the problem.

Distress inks pine needles, olive and barn door were used, also festive greenery die, bakers twine and Gold embossing powder.  Tags are creative expressions stamps with gold EP   added.  Red one reads Hope and Green one Dream, TH Bingo embossing folder was used for the 25 which I cut out and added barn door and a little pine needles.  Red and gold ribbon were added (gorgeous red ribbon was in my prize package from C2CU October challenge).
Lastly I added 2 old bells I have no idea where these came from just found them in my Christmas bits and bobs I would think I recycled them from something...sometime...well Santa has to have Jingle Bells ......doesn't he?

Look I told you his beard wasn't green lol, but this photo was blurred so I didn't us it as main image just wanted you to see his white beard. lol.

Three Wise Men

Artful Times Challenge Lilac and Silver popped into my mail box yesterday and I just had to play, don't usually use purple but couldn't resist the silver .........as embossing powder and all things glittery popped into my head I just knew I was hooked.

 

 

First stop were my Tim Holtz Mini Holidays Christmas stamps and an embossing folder which I inked with dusty concord before adding my card and running through my big shot, I love this technique it can have some very different effects each time. The colour was quite pastel so I stamped the snowflake and inked around the edges in same colour, also stamped one in silver for the star and quickly added silver fine detail EP, the three wise men were stamped in same ink (Silver brilliance) inside the embossed frame, sentiment was heat embossed with same silver EP. Lastly I added versamark to the edges of card and added more EP (not showing up to well in photo) so hard to get the sparkle without the glare with EP.  After a rummage in my card blanks I found this lovely deckle edge purple card to mount my creation on...........and a quick Christmas card was made, think I had better make a few more quick ones as I haven't really started yet!!

Oriental Clock

Hello bloggers on a very cold but sunny (well it was) it's getting dark now Saturday, hope you are all well. 
Today I have shut myself in my craft room to have a little play and also finish off  1 or 2 ( or 3)
projects I have had on the go for a while and trying to get my head around Christmas cards for the family..........not much luck there!!!      One project I did finish is this altered CD clock using my new Sheena Douglas A Little Bit Oriental stamps sets, I treated myself to all three A5 plates in the series as I just love Oriental anything. 
This project fits in with the challenge at Craft a Scene which is Trees

 

 I have used stamps from Koi and Waterlillies and Oriental Silhouettes.
Firstly I inked a white circle of card with bundled sage and dusty concord ink lightly at first by only dragging across the card with cut and dry foam, I darkened areas later as I added the stamps. I used   the bridge (Oriental Silhouettes)  and built up the colour around the edges and behind the bridge, with water I dragged some colour into the bridge. Next the water (Kio and Waterlillies) was stamped in dusty concord and I painted the lilly pads with bundled sage and shaded with dusty concord.  Next came the trees ( Oriental Silhouettes)... aren't they wonderful love this stamp.......in Forest Green Stazon.
Lastly I added two  Cranes....well that's what I think they are!  The numbers are black plastic from the Tim Holtz stable but sorry have no idea what they are called as I have no packaging and have had them ages......they are sticky on the back but I also used glossy accents to make sure they stayed stuck! 
I sanded around the edge of the card after I had stuck it to the CD with glossy accents and added dusty concord to them, lastly  I added clock mechanism and voila I have a lovely clock to hang in my bedroom.

Q is for

Time for another page in my altered dictionary and this time "Q" is the choice at The Craft Barn Challenge.    Not many words to choose from so I went with the one that jumped off the page at me Quill.   I apologise for the photo it is such a dark rainy day here today I will edit photo tomorrow if it is a better day!

The definition "the hollow stem of a feather"
 I used this feather stamp from Sheena Douglass falling feathers set. Also added  corners and splodge stamp from her ageing beautifully set. Ink Archival black and I crossed out some words with a fine line pen, I wanted the page to be messy like mistakes on a page written in ink......I achieved messy alright not sure if I got the look I was after though......lol,
Edges of pages were inked with black soot distress ink.
